What you need to bring to Birch Hill Lodge
Below is a list of items that we suggest you will find necessary for staying
at Birch Hill Lodge.
A must to bring for each group
- A well equipped First Aid Kit.
- Firewood – there is a log fire for heating in main hall.
- Dishwashing liquid, tea towels & dish mops etc.
- Toilet Paper.
Pots, pans and serving utensils supplied, along with sufficient
crockery and cutlery for camps of 30 plus.
Suggested Essentials For Each Person to Bring
- Warm sleeping bag or several blankets, and pillow.
- Towel, soap, face cloth, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste.
- Underwear and socks (3 pairs) plus warm Pyjamas.
- Long pants and shorts (seasonal).
- Sturdy footwear – 2 pairs.
- Shirts - T-shirts and long sleeved shirt/skivvies.
- Heavy jersey or sweat shirt/polar fleece.
- Rainwear – lightweight jacket/windbreaker.
- Hats – Sunhat and warm hat (seasonal) sunscreen lotion.
- Flashlight with good batteries.
- Optional, Camera and film.
Campsite Rules
- No Chopping down or removal of trees or Native Flora.
- Leave only ashes in the marked container and take your non-combustible
rubbish with you.
- Leave the building as clean, if not cleaner than you found it.
- Light no outside fires—This
campsite is in a permanent fire restricted area.
- Conserve water, as the source is limited in summer, from a nearby
stream. (Filtered through a water treatment system)
- Check grounds for rubbish before leaving.
- Shut and secure all gates when leaving site.
- All property around the campsite is private – Please Respect
this.
- Report any damage on your return.
- No firearms on campsite.
- No Motorised Go-Carts, Motorbikes or A.T.V’S. to be
used on the site or adjacent roadsides.
General Information
Stout footwear or boots should be worn on all tracks in the foothills. Make sure you always carry adequate clothing and wet weather
gear to protect yourself against sudden deterioration in the weather as the
foothills are subject to sudden cold westerly changes throughout the year.
Remember to take plenty of high-energy snacks.
